Motiv is a wearable ring that not only tracks you movement thought out the day but also your heart rate. The first challenge I had in helping them was to rearchitect the navigation to be personalized feed. We learned early on that users wanted loved sharing their progress but didn’t want to over invest time in creating it manually. So we implemented a feed of auto generated content, based on the users activity. This meant that each time we detected activity, we’d give the user a hyper-sharable snippet of content.
The next challenge was to tell the story behind Motiv’s philosophy. It’s well known and agreed upon in health and fitness science that you need to get 10 active minutes (BPM of 120 or higher) a day to maintain a healthy heart. Getting users to not only comprehend this concept but to believe it was critical to the process. After tons of story boarding and collaboration with both medical professionals copy writers and animators (Devon Stern) we created this short clip.
